of Rajasthan in terms of population and city sq. km. area.
The Suncity is becoming an
educational and industrial hub at a rapid pace. With several distinguished
educational institutions and business houses setting up shop and production
units, the government focus on development of jodhpur as a major economic
centre like setting up Petrochemical plant in Pachpadra, setting up industrial
areas and dry ports helped to expand the population. This has invited lot of

With this rapid
development, the real estate sector is booming in Jodhpur with the prices of
land increasing manifold. Academic institutions such as the NLU, IIT, NIFT
and police university are building campuses in the periphery of the city, and
price of land around these have skyrocketed. Nagaur Road, where all the
institutions are coming up, has witnessed the land prices going up from nearly
Rs 50,000 per bigha to Rs 20-30 lakh per bigha. The arrival of IIT ushered the
boom, The land for IIT was acquired at a rate of Rs 1 lakh per bigha,
under the DLC rates prevailing then. Today if you want to own a plot
within a 25-km periphery of the city, the price will not be less than Rs 4000
per yard. A two BHK flat on the city outskirts is fetching a price of Rs
2800 per square feet. In the city, the same unit will cost you somewhere around
Rs 50 lakh.
